Why Childbirth Education?

Childbirth Education is Important

Your birth experience will be something you remember for the rest of your life.

Unfortunately, most of us haven’t been provided with adequate positive guidance surrounding birth. We haven’t been given appropriate evidence based education about the birth process.

What we see in mainstream media regarding labor and birth typically leaves us feeling frightened about the upcoming moments about our baby being born and many pregnant people are often told how to labor instead of being encouraged to follow their body’s lead.

By taking a Childbirth Education Class, you will see benefits now, during birth and throughout the postpartum period.

Improved breastfeeding.

Long term positive memories surrounding your birth experience.

Be Ready to Learn

In our childbirth class, you will learn the most current evidence based information. To be empowered in the birth process, it is vital to know and understand the current information.

The foundation of our course comes from The Lamaze Six Healthy Birth Practices. These practices are fundamental for knowing how to labor and how they work together to encourage you to lead the process to birth your baby. The information taught in our course comes from experts in healthcare and childbirth such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).

By the end of our course, you will be educated with evidence based information, empowered with confidence in making decisions for your birth, completely comfortable with the birth process and excited for your baby’s birthday.

For thousands of years, woman have birthed babies. Birth is a normal healthy process your body knows how to navigate safely. I can assure you that by learning about the birth process, you will be ready to advocate for yourself and be confident in knowing the right questions to ask to determine if something is necessary for you based on your preferences and respected needs.

Birth is often treated as a medical event. Through taking a course, you will come to understand that it isn’t an event, but an experience that will impact you for a lifetime. It takes 40 weeks to grow a child, why not join us for some of those?! I want you to feel empowered, educated and excited for when labor unfolds.

Who Should Take a Class?

We welcome both first time parents and expectant parents who have given birth before, as well as support people to join us for a childbirth education course.

First time parents may be nervous and uncertain about what to expect. Parents who already have children may want a different experience than a previous birth. This is especially helpful if you have given birth before and have less than pleasant feelings surrounding birth due to previous birth experiences.

Childbirth education can bring a calm positive perspective and feelings of empowerment to birth. You can have a positive birth experience as long as you are open to learning.

Support people play an important role during labor and the more they know, the better they can support you. We welcome all families and backgrounds!
